Strong cohesion for 22 years
#MyStory - Thomas Salzmann tells his BWF Group story
My name is Thomas Salzmann. I am 51 years old and have been working as a dyeing master for BWF Feltec for 22 years. My tasks include, among other things, setting new dye recipes, checking and correcting dyeings and creating customer samples in the laboratory. For me, every working day brings new challenges and varied activities. I am glad that we tackle and solve them together as a team. Cohesion is very important to us.
That's my story and my 22 years at BWF Feltec are just the beginning ...
A passion that lasts for generations
I have been working in the textile industry for over 30 years. Since my apprenticeship at a woolen cloth factory in Lauingen, I have never done anything else. I come from a textile family, my grandfather already worked as a weaver. I had to assert myself to my family in order to earn my master's degree as a textile industry master craftsman in the field of finishing while working for three years and to forego my studies. Looking back, I can say I made exactly the right choice and have no regrets. I still see myself as a classic textile worker who can do what he has learned. What I like most about my job is working for myself and the variety of tasks - it's just nice to do what you enjoy.
22 years of BWF Group - a history full of highlights
My history with the BWF Group began in 2000. Some highlights in the last 22 years have definitely been my trips to China, where I was able to advise colleagues on undercollar felt production. There have also been several trips to Italy to test and select machines. Even though I don't like to fly - these were great experiences that I wouldn't want to miss.
Challenging tasks and joint solutions
In the deying you are faced with new challenges every day. There are often problems that have to be solved very quickly and at short notice. But you are not left alone here, the team finds the right solution together - cohesion is very important to us. We don't strictly separate our private and professional lives; we meet privately, often do things together and support each other. Due to the family atmosphere, it feels more like a kind of "big craft business" in the wool felt sector.
My future with the BWF Group
I have been working in this profession for 22 years and I want it to continue. For my future at the BWF Group, I wish that everything stays the way it is and that I can continue working until I retire. It's rare to wish for that in this profession. I appreciate our great team spirit and the flat hierarchies that make working at the BWF Group so pleasant.
